Nishagandhi Dance Festival 2018

Classical dancers from across the country will showcase their mesmerising talents at the Nishagandhi Dance Festival 2018 that will begin on January 20.

The annual dance festival, organised by Kerala Tourism, will be held at the Nishagandhi auditorium on the Kanakakunnu Palace grounds. The seven-day fete will commence with a Kathak performance by the Bengaluru-based Nadam Ensemble.

A Mohiniyattom performance by Vidya Pradeep and a Kuchippudi performance by Deepika Reddy that will follow will be the highlight of the second day of the festival. A Bharatanatyam performance by Parshwanath Upadhye and a Mohiniyattom performance by Kerala Kalamandalam will be featured on January 22, the third day.

Alarmel Valli to perform

On January 23, a Kuchipudi performance by Girish Chandra and Devi Girish, a Bharatanatyam performance by Alarmel Valli, and a Odissi performance by the Odhisha-based Kaishiki Dance Academy will be on display.

The fifth day of the festival, January 24, will begin with a Bharatanatyam performance by Ritu Prakash. This will be followed by performance by Kuchipudi exponent Pasumarthi Mrityunjaya and Kathak exponent Shama Bhate.

On January 25, Bharatanatyam exponent Aparna Vinod will perform, followed by Mohiniyattom by Anushri and Odissi by the Rudraksh Foundation, based in Odhisha.

The show on the concluding day (January 26) will get under way with a Kuchipudi performance by Gayathri Suresh.

It will be followed by a Bharatanatyam performance by Chitra Visweswaran and group, and a Manipuri performance by the Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy.

From 6.15 p.m.

The festivities will begin at 6.15 p.m. on all days.

The prestigious Nishagandhi Puraskaram 2018, instituted by Kerala Tourism for excellence in classical dance, will be conferred during the inaugural ceremony on January 20.
