
The city of Thiruvananthapuram once again became the cultural capital of India as the prestigious Soorya Dance & Music Festival 2025 began on October 1, marking the start of a 111-day celebration of Indian classical arts. Regarded as one of the world’s longest continuous cultural festivals, Soorya continues its legacy of showcasing India’s finest artistic talent.
The opening night set a divine tone with an enchanting Carnatic vocal performance by acclaimed singer K.S. Harisankar. His soulful renditions and powerful voice captivated a packed audience, drawing thunderous applause and setting a vibrant momentum for the festival ahead.
On October 2, internationally renowned Bharatanatyam exponent Rama Vaidyanathan graced the stage with a spellbinding performance, marked by precision, grace, and storytelling excellence.
The artistic brilliance continued on October 3, with celebrated dancer Meenakshi Sreenivasan presenting an elegant and emotionally rich Bharatanatyam recital, leaving audiences mesmerized.
The festival’s fourth day, October 4, witnessed an unforgettable performance by National Award-winning actress and danseuse Shobana. Known for her extraordinary stage presence and creativity, Shobana’s presentation drew a massive crowd, reaffirming her stature as one of India’s most admired classical dancers.
In the days ahead, star performers including Asha Sharath, Navya Nair, Priyadarshini Govind, Janaki Rangarajan, and several globally acclaimed artistswill take the stage. The festival will also feature concerts, theatre productions, film screenings, and cultural dialogues—celebrating the depth and diversity of Indian art.
Organized by the Soorya Stage and Film Society, the festival has become a cultural tradition, attracting art lovers, performers, and dignitaries from across India and abroad. With 111 days of continuous programs, Soorya remains a shining example of Kerala’s commitment to preserving and promoting classical art forms on a global scale.
