Thiruvananthapuram | September 1, 2025 — Kerala is gearing up for its most awaited annual festival, Thiru Onam, with the festivities already in full swing across the state. Following the flag hoisting ceremony in Thiruvananthapuram, the capital city has transformed into a hub of cultural activities, competitions, and vibrant fairs.
The State-level Onam celebrations, organized by the Government of Kerala, will be held from September 3 to 9 at multiple venues. While Kanakakkunnu Palace grounds will remain the main centre of attraction, celebrations are spread across 32 venues, including Central Stadium, Poojappura Grounds, Shanghumughom, Bharat Bhavan, Gandhi Park, Museum Compound, Vyloppilly Samskrithi Bhavan, Akkulam, Veli Tourist Village, and other locations outside the city such as Varkala Tourism Centre and Nedumangad.
Adding to the festive fervor, Onam fairs are being organized across districts under the District Tourism Promotion Committees (DTPCs), ensuring that celebrations reach every corner of the state.
This year’s week-long cultural extravaganza promises a richer experience with classical and contemporary music, traditional and folk dance performances, instrumental recitals, and cultural processions. Decorative lighting and vibrant displays are expected to lend the celebrations a grander appeal.
With the mix of tradition, culture, and festivities, Onam 2025 is set to showcase Kerala’s rich heritage in its most colorful form.
